There are some procedures you probably didn’t know could be non surgical. That’s okay–that’s why we’re here! Non surgical options have been making waves over the past few years because they’re offering patients something they didn’t have before: options. And the more options you have, the better.
A Few Procedures That You Didn’t Know Could Be Non-Surgical
By now, there are some non surgical, non-invasive procedures that have become quite popular. They’re household names. But there are other non surgical procedures that tend to lay low–you may not have heard of them even though they can be quite effective. Today, we’ll look at some of those procedures you didn’t know could be non-surgical.
Whether these non surgical procedures are a better choice than their surgical counterparts is something that only your plastic surgeon can answer. There are simply so many variables to consider! But these non surgical procedures definitely give you more options. So let’s take a look at what some of the most non surgical procedures you didn’t know about could be.
Non Surgical Nose Job
We’re starting with this one because it’s the most well known and also quite illustrative: the non surgical nose job. Rather than undergoing a surgical rhinoplasty (which can require months of painful recovery), you can get a few injections and immediately start enjoying your results. There are a few caveats of course: you can only add volume and the results tend to be subtle.
Non surgical nose job will never replace its surgical counterpart. But, then, it’s not really trying to. A non surgical nose job uses dermal fillers to produce relatively small changes to the nose. Essentially, the same dermal fillers that could otherwise help eliminate wrinkles instead help you change your nose.
Non Surgical Feminine Rejuvenation
Vaginal rejuvenation has always been something of a sensitive topic in plastic surgery. Previously, this was a procedure that could only be performed surgically. But now there are non surgical alternatives that are coming on the market, such as Viveve feminine rejuvenation.
The advantages of a non surgical approach are plentiful. First and foremost, there’s virtually no recovery time. Second, complications tend to be substantially lower. This makes Viveve and other options like it, quite appealing. You’ll still need to talk to your surgeon, of course, about whether something like Viveve (which uses radiofrequency currents to accomplish the job) or surgery (which uses sutures and removes excess skin) will be the best way to achieve your goals. But it’s easy to see the appeal of the non surgical method.
Non Surgical Body Contouring
When people find out there are non surgical body contouring options, that’s almost always the biggest surprise. It’s mostly that non surgical body contouring sounds too good to be true. You go in, fat is removed (without surgery) and you go home. Of course, it’s more complicated than that–but the basic premise is sound.
Non surgical body contouring procedures, such as Coolsculpting and Kybella, offer patients a way to achieve their body shape goals. That it can accomplish this without surgery is, well, pretty revolutionary. Liposuction itself is a minimally invasive procedure, but it still requires several weeks of recovery. Coolsculpting and Kybella are usually quite forgiving on the body–and most patients can resume normal activities after the procedure is complete. Of course, the results do tend to be more subtle.
More Subtle, Less Recovery
The general theme is this: non surgical procedures tend to be less powerful and flexible than their surgical counterparts. This means when you undergo a non-invasive procedure, it’s likely to produce more subtle results. But you also don’t have to go through an uncomfortable recovery period (usually).
There’s no one “best” course of action. Whether a surgical or non surgical option is right for you will depend on your goals, your physiology, and your preferences. And these are all things to discuss with your plastic or cosmetic surgeons. Either way, now that you know about these non surgical procedures, you’ll have options.
